LOOK AGAIN Eyewear is a design lab and prototyping studio based in Toronto, Canada. They specialize in custom handmade acetate frames, 100% produced in their studio on Toronto's Westside.
We asked LOOK AGAIN to produce a custom eyeglass frame based on a prototype conceived and constructed at Orbita Futura.
[TUNNEL VISION/FOKUS] is an exploration. It asks questions about perception and seeks to exercise our ability to direct attention in an era of info-saturation and constant distraction.
Can a vision device affect attentional capacities or influence our perception of the world around us? Can it induce and sustain concentration? Could the eyewear of the future enhance attention spans and, effectively, shape our vision?
We made our reflections concrete in the form of a singular eyeglass frame. LOOK AGAIN became implicated in the design process and helped elevate the concept through the use of new materials and construction methods.
The frame is characterized by its unique slot construction and large temples that intentionally limit the wearer’s field of vision. The slotted endpieces and temples are laser-cut and the rest parts are carefully manufactured through a combination of industrial tooling and skillful handmade assembly.
